One man arrested in connection with Coop’s car wash robbery
Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago – Attorney General Reginald Armour has praised the State’s recent victory in defending the one-year extension of Police Commissioner Erla Harewood-Christopher’s service.
In a press release, he highlighted that this legal success exemplifies the Cabinet’s commitment to the national interest. The Privy Council ruled on December 19th that the extension, which went beyond her retirement age, was lawful and constitutional, dismissing a challenge from activist Ravi Balgobin-Maharaj. Armour stated that the State’s success throughout the legal process shows that the Cabinet acted within the law and in the national interest. He also reassured that the Police Service Commission’s jurisdiction over the Commissioner remains intact and will continue to be respected.
