Inflation Eases – Slight Food Cost Drop Masking Rising Costs Elsewhere

September 18, 2025- The Central Statistical Office has reported a modest easing of inflation, offering a small relief for consumers across Trinidad and Tobago. The Consumer Price Index, a key measure of the cost of living, fell to 1.4% in August 2025, down slightly from 1.5% in July.

While the decrease is welcome, experts caution that rising costs in other areas may continue to impact households, meaning many consumers may not yet feel significant relief at the grocery store or in day-to-day expenses.
