Finance Minister denounces Tobago airport misinformation
The Ministry of Finance has condemned media misinformation about the Tobago Airport Project, specifically addressing claims made by the Daily Express. The Ministry criticised the newspaper for overstating the project cost by $100 million and ignoring provided evidence refuting these claims. Finance Minister Colm Imbert highlighted that structural integrity and cost details, verified by experts, were shared but omitted by the media. He accused the Express of spreading “yellow journalism” and misleading the public, despite the Cabinet Note containing detailed justifications for the project’s timeline, cost, and challenges. The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to building a modern airport terminal in Tobago and dismissed the allegations as an attempt to tarnish the project.
