E COMMERCE PLATFORMS UNDERWAY

Central government recently signed a transformative agreement with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development. The focus of this groundbreaking agreement is the formulation of Trinidad and Tobago’s National E-Commerce Strategy for the years 2024-2029. Director of Strategy, Business Facilitation, and Programme Management in the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Candice Lackhansingh, highlighted the significance of the business model, enabling enterprises to expand into external markets.

This comprehensive plan unfolds in two phases, with an initial emphasis on an e-trade readiness assessment. Speaking on the involvement of businesses, Lackhansingh outlined a collaborative approach. Assurance was given that future e-commerce platforms will be user-friendly, ensuring accessibility for all business owners.

Lackhansingh underscored the government’s commitment to fostering economic resilience and growth through digital avenues. As Trinidad and Tobago steps into this new era of e-commerce, she said businesses can anticipate tailored support to navigate the evolving landscape and thrive in the online marketplace.
