Division condemns unauthorized recording

Division of Food Security addresses public concern over social media video of joint patrol with TTCG; acknowledges lapse in judgement and plans enhanced training for officers to strengthen operational protocols.

The Division of Food Security, Natural Resources, the Environment, and Sustainable Development has addressed public concern over a social media video showing a joint patrol between the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard and the Department of Marine Resources and Fisheries’ Reef Patrol Unit. The video featured officers in uniform returning to port after their patrol. While the operation had concluded, the unauthorised recording and sharing of operational activities were deemed inappropriate. Acknowledging this lapse, the Department plans to implement enhanced training to strengthen collaboration between the Reef Patrol officers and the Coast Guard, focusing on protocols for joint operations and documentation procedures. The Division reaffirms its commitment to maintaining high professional standards, stressing the importance of this partnership in protecting marine resources and ensuring maritime security.
