Division Condemns Unauthorized Recording of Patrol
Division of Food Security addresses public concern over social media video of joint patrol with TTCG; acknowledges lapse in judgement and plans enhanced training for officers to strengthen operational protocols.
October 29, 2024 – The Division of Food Security, Natural Resources, the Environment, and Sustainable Development has responded to public concern regarding a social media video. The video, which showed a joint patrol with the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard and the Department of Marine Resources and Fisheries’ Reef Patrol Unit returning to port, was deemed an unauthorized recording of operational activities.
While acknowledging this lapse, the Division has announced plans to implement enhanced training to strengthen collaboration between the Reef Patrol officers and the Coast Guard. This training will focus on improving protocols for joint operations and documentation procedures. The Division reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining high professional standards and emphasized the importance of this partnership in protecting marine resources and ensuring maritime security.
