Concerns About Airport Terminal Designs

CONCERNS ABOUT AIRPORT TERMINAL DESIGNS

Secretary of Infrastructure, Quarries, and Urban Development Trevor James highlighted some concerns about the construction of the new airport terminal for the ANR Robinson International Airport. James revealed that the Division recently received the final designs for the terminal and is still perusing the documents. However, he noted a few points that he is not very keen on, such as the proximity of the main building to the community.

You can see you can have almost access to a plane from a thoroughfare. I mean every design I have seen places car park and buildings and roads way away from the tarmac. This design seems to bring airplanes 20-30 feet from the mainroad“. He also listed concerns about the location of the fueling station. “the original 60% designs I saw at the time did not seem to include piping fuel from the tank farm, underground to the new tarmac 1:56:06 which meant that there is some consideration of trucking fuel around as we did back in the 80s“.

James said the suggestion in the current designs, placing the fueling station to the East of the terminal building, is also problematic and can become a hazard due to the direction of the wind in that area. Despite his concerns, he hopes that when the technocrats from his Division finish their evaluation, the central government will give consideration to their suggestions.
