May 22, 2025 – Chief Secretary Farley Augustine brought a motion before the Assembly for support in asking the newly elected central government to review all versions of the Tobago Autonomy Bills, with input from the Tobago House of Assembly (THA), identifying areas of consensus and refinement and reintroduce the bills to parliament in the shortest possible time. Augustine said he did not support moves made by previous governments regarding Tobago’s Autonomy bills. Augustine hopes that the government will handle the matter differently this time and that Tobago will receive what it rightfully deserves: its right to self-determination. However, Minority Leader Kelvon Morris does not support Augustine’s motions. He believes Tobagonians should be consulted on the way forward. The Area Representative for Roxborough/Argyle doesn’t support the motion either. Up to news time, the debate was still happening in the House.
