A Lack of Self-Determination Holding Back Tobago’s Development, Says Assemblyman Trevor James

Chief Secretary Farley Augustine blames central government for Tobago’s economic challenges.

Scarborough, Tobago – June 9, 2024 – Secretary for the Division of Infrastructure, Quarries and Urban Development, Assemblyman Trevor James, asserts that a persistent lack of self-determination is holding back Tobago’s development.

Secretary James stated that almost everything done on the island is limited by the fact that Tobagonians don’t have control of their resources and are heavily dependent on Trinidad. His comments underscore the ongoing political and economic debate about Tobago’s autonomy and its impact on the island’s ability to chart its own course for economic growth and infrastructure development.
