Tobago division of TTCIC iterated their commitment to assisting schools based on their abilities
Scarborough, Tobago – February 21, 2024 – The escalating rates of school violence in Tobago are prompting a significant call for corporate support in the education sector. Curtis Williams, Chairman of the Tobago Division at the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce, emphasized the private sector’s vital role in addressing this critical issue.
The Chamber has already demonstrated its commitment by assisting Signal Hill Secondary School, directly responding to recent violent incidents involving its students. Williams confirmed that they are in contact with Zorisha Hackett, Secretary of Education, Research, and Technology, for a forthcoming meeting to discuss broader collaboration.
While acknowledging the Chamber’s limited resources, Williams affirmed its dedication to supporting initiatives aimed at effectively combating school violence in Tobago. He strongly advocates for a collaborative, multi-stakeholder approach to tackle this pervasive societal challenge, bringing together various sectors to ensure safer learning environments.
