Police are investigating the suspected suicide of 16-year-old Ishmael Ollivirrie, a recent graduate of Bishop’s High School. Ollivirrie, who recently earned eight O’Level passes and was preparing to enter sixth form, was discovered unresponsive at his Lambeau home earlier today.
According to reports, around 11:40 a.m. his mother, Abbedette Bishop, attempted to reach him by phone but received no response. Concerned, she contacted his grandmother, 67-year-old Junie Thomas Bishop, with whom he lived. The grandmother later found him hanging by a curtain near his bedroom door. She untied him and called emergency services, but ambulance personnel confirmed he had no pulse.
Officers from the Scarborough and Crown Point police stations, along with members of the Criminal Records Office, responded to the scene.Relatives said Ollivirrie had been mourning the recent death of his grandfather, to whom he was close, and had also spoken of difficulties coping with the absence of his father. He was expected to visit Signal Hill Secondary School today to submit documents for his sixth form registration.
