New Cargo Ferry Welcomed

Chief Secretary Farley Augustine welcomes the idea of a new cargo ferry for the inter-island seabridge. Following a meeting with the business community last Friday, Minister of Works and Transport Rohan Sinannan promised to procure a new cargo ferry specially designed to meet Tobago’s requirements. When asked to comment on this promise, Augustine responded with some skepticism.

According to the Chief Secretary, commitments to new ferries don’t come to fruition overnight, and he is looking for a more substantial commitment. Minister Sinannan stated that the construction and delivery of the new ferry would take at least two years. Meanwhile, he pledged to incorporate the recommendations submitted by the business community into the ferry’s design.
